Diabetes UK is holding a Well Walk on Sunday 7th July, 11am. The Well Walk is a 10km walk in the beautiful Temple Newsam Park, about 4 miles east of Leeds city centre to raise sponsorship for diabetes research.
Why walk? Getting active is a key factor in reducing our risk of getting type 2 diabetes. Training for the 10km walk and doing the walk is a challenge that is within research of us all. And it's fun too!
The Well Walk is open to people of all ages, children should be accompanied by an adult at all times. Why not bring a picnic and make a day of it? Temple Newsam Park has lots to offer for a full day out.
Why raise funds for diabetes research? Currently one in 20 of us have diabetes: a total of 3.8 million people in the UK, including an estimated 850,000 people who have type2 diabetes and don’t know it. Diabetes kills more people than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. Diabetes can affect us all.
Money raised through this event will help Diabetes UK fund research into care, cure and prevention for all types of diabetes.
Entry fee for the walk is £5 for adults, £2 for children or £12 for family. These fees cover the event costs so that all the sponsorship money you raise will go to diabetes research.
