City of York Council is inviting residents to attend a presentation this month, about a project which aims to improve the quality of care for elderly people in York.
Music in Care Homes is a project funded by the council and Arts Council England, which brings elderly residents, families and staff together to learn and share creative music sessions.
The project, which started in February, also encourages community art groups to visit care homes to share their interests with residents.
The weekly sessions are led by musicians and enable participants to enjoy playing and listening to music from different cultures and periods, whilst learning new songs and experimenting with other visual arts activities.
Residents are invited to find out more information about the sessions by attending an event on Thursday 15 October from 2pm - 4pm. at Friends Meeting House, Friargate, York.
During the event musical artists and staff will be at hand to offer information about the sessions and participants will have the opportunity to contribute their views.
