HIP's being abolished?

Postby conveyancing guru » Thu Apr 01, 2010 2:18 pm

This is one for the Yorkshire homeowners, or soon to be...

From what I've been reading it seems that HIP's might be abolished if the Tories get into power... I've got a home in Halifax and am thinking of selling but to do that I need a HIP.

I'm not really sure what to do as they might be being scrapped soon, but at the same time I don't want to sit on my hands.

How likely do you think it is that 1. the tories will get into power and 2. how long do you think it will take for the new measures to come into effect?

Cheers!

Dig around and you’ll find a local lawyer who will do one for you for a smaller fee than most estate agents.

Estate agents usually pass this work through a lawyer, then increase the charge before passing it on to you. The main reason for this is that most estate agents are too thick to pass the qualifying test in order to produce an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).

The EPC is the crucial part of the HIP and was brought about by the Government's desire to increase taxes and blame home owners for the end of the world - the only course of action to save the planet being to raise taxes on homes at the higher end of the Carbon Footprint.

They have made themselves obvious because whereas in the past you would expect only one useless surveyor to put together a home valuation report for the mortgage company, you will now need two visits. One will be the usual surveyor for the mortgage - the other will be a EPC surveyor... who will naturally cycle to your property, as arriving in a car will add to the carbon footprint.... the world will spin off it’s axis and the Tories will be telling the truth.

One thing you really do need to keep in mind.... the Tories are telling porkies, they always did and they always will. They made it clear last time they were in Government, that they thought telling lies was good practice and to be expected.

Not that Verner Von Braun should be trusted and of course, the Libs can promise free everything including beer and wine, free money and free love... it doesn't matter, there’s more chance of me winning the election and I’m not standing.

If the Tories come into power, the only thing that will change is the same thing that changed when they lost power. The licensees name over the door at No 10.

If you are over 15 - you’ll be dead by the time the Tories keep any of their promises...!

Anyway, you don’t need to worry too much, your house is in Halifax... who on earth would want to live there? ;)
