Malton is one of those great little Market Towns with lots of little hidden gems. Each Saturday there is a growing street market - which in recent times has grown to twice it's former size!

It's also the commercial centre of Ryedale and the base of Ryedale District Council. Within it's boundaries you'll find some of the most popular tourist attractions in the UK, including the popular Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo, and for those with an interest in modern history - you shouldn't miss out on a visit to Eden Camp.

Parts of the town centre have been lovingly refurbished, old wiring removed, new street lanterns erected and now the local estate owner: Fitzwilliam (Malton) Estate, are providing free parking in the centre of town.

Over the course of time I'll be publishing lots more photos of Malton, but what could be better than kicking off with these images of poppies growing in a field, right alongside the Old Malton Road and next to Malton Cricket Pavilion. A sea of red greeting everyone as they enter Malton from the old end of the town.

I would highly recommend a visit to Malton, particularly on Saturday's where you can take a stroll around the market, pick up a bargain and walk around the town enjoying the atmosphere of a thriving market town and community.
