16-year-old charged with murder

A 16-YEAR-OLD youth will appear in court today charged with the murder of 19-year-old Michael Vincent Graham in Scarborough on Saturday (13 April 2013).

Detectives investigating the death of 19-year-old Michael Vincent Graham said they have have charged a youth with murder, and with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The wounding with intent is in relation to another victim, who was 17 years of age and suffered a serious leg injury during the incident.

The 16-year-old who we are not allowed to identify due to reporting restrictions, is due to appear at Scarborough Magistrates Court today - Tuesday 16 April.

Eight other people arrested in connection with the investigation, five males and three females, have been released on conditional police bail pending further enquiries.

Michael Graham's family has issued the following statement through North Yorkshire Police:
"We are absolutely devastated by what has happened to Mickey and we're struggling to come to terms with the fact that he has gone.
"We hope those responsible for his death are brought to justice."
Michael's family, are being supported by specially trained police officers.

Detectives who continue to investigate the incident are urging anyone with information that could assist the investigation to still come forward.
