A CONMAN who pretended to be the brother of comedian Peter Kay, then stole money from pub landlords, may be in our region.

Police in Derbyshire have launched a nationwide hunt for the thief who offered to put on comedy nights to raise money for the Lewis Mighty Fund, a charity raising money for Lewis, who died from neuroblastoma last year.

The 50-year-old conman 'Peter Stead', used the name 'Danny Kay' to carry out the scam and was given cash by landlords, which they believed would benefit a good cause. But Stead disappeared along with their money.

Derbyshire Police say that Stead could be anywhere in the country and hope the public will help to track him down.

If you see Stead, or know where he is, you are urged to contact your local police by calling 101.
