JUST one day on from distressed, grieving parents speaking to Pure Yorkshire about their concerns over the headstone of Savile overlooking their daughter's resting place, action has been taken to remove it from its prominent position overlooking Woodlands Cemetery and the nearby school.

The grieving couple who attend their daughter's grave on a daily basis, told Pure Yorkshire yesterday that they would not rest until the headstone was removed. Today they said they were surprised and pleased with the removal, that they hoped this would discourage people from visiting the cemetery with the intentions of venting their anger.

The headstone which had cost £4,000, was engraved with the slogan "It Was Goof While It Lasted" along with images of Savile. It was removed at about midnight, just a few hours after our report went live at 1.55pm yesterday. A firm from Bradford removed the stone which will be broken up and disposed of in a landfill site, according to the wishes of Savile's relatives.

Savile has been described as a "predatory sex offender" by a senior detective at Scotland Yard. It is understood that the Metropolitan Police are carrying our over 100 lines of criminal enquiries involving accusations against Savile.
