WHITBY'S Colosseum Theatre became the perfect setting for a revisit of Romeo & Juliet on Friday night. Just as the Arena in Verona, Italy is about a third the size of the Colosseum in Rome, the Colosseum Theatre in Whitby is tiny in comparison to many other theatres too.

Anyone visiting the Arena in Verona, won't be disappointed by the spectacle, equally a night of live theatrical performance in Whitby was not to be missed by the local audience filling the seats in Whitby. All there to enjoy a live performance by The Flying Theatre Company and their comedy version of Shakespeare's most famous tragedy: Romeo & Juliet.

Due to other commitments, I had to leave the show early, so event organiser Debbie Swales filled me in on the detail. Debbie told me it had been a great night of entertainment with hilarious action packed comedy. Romeo was played by Lucas Gershwin, Juliet played by Anna Larkin and Peter Welburn: writer, director actor playing everyone else.

Debbie said; "The audience were great fun and were with the cast the whole way. They got a little wet in the marriage ceremony and there were a few calls of 'Romeo I love you'!"
