NORTH YORKSHIRE POLICE has issued a witness appeal about a serious road traffic collision near Bentham in the Craven District.

The two vehicle collision happened on Slaidburn Road, by the cross road with Mewith Lane, at about 5.40pm on Friday 12 April 2013.

A 21-year-old female driver of one of the cars, from the Morecambe area of Lancashire, was taken by air ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital with serious head injuries.

The 22-year-old male driver of the other vehicle, who lives locally, also received injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward who saw either the collision or the vehicles involved, a light blue Ford Focus or a dark blue Peugeot 107, prior to the incident.

It is believed the Ford was heading from Bentham towards Slaidburn on Slaidburn Road, and the Peugeot was travelling in the direction from Clapham towards Wray on Mewith Lane.
